We are a small hedgehog rescue and rehabilitation centre based in the Keyford area of Frome that has been running since 2021.
We have been trained in wildlife and hedgehog first aid and rehabilitation by organisations including Vale Animal Hospital and Secret World Wildlife Rescue. We are not vets and recognise the limits of what we can do to help hedgehogs. If a hedgehog comes to us that is beyond our skills to help we refer them to a local veterinary practice or to another rescue that has more qualified people and equipment than us.
We also work and co-ordinate with other local hedgehog rescue organisations and people.
We follow best practice guidelines as established by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, British Wildlife Rehabilitation Council, Vale Animal Hospital, Secret World Wildlife Rescue, Zoological Society of London, RSPCA, and others.
We provide for the five needs of animals in our care as set out in the Animal Welfare Act 2006, namely:
The need for a suitable environment
The need for a suitable diet
The need to be able to exhibit normal behaviour patterns
The need to be housed with, or apart, from other animals
The need to be protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease.
We are self-funded, though we are very grateful to you if you can support us.
